Unusual and Good Gouda Appetizer

My beloved grandmother always made this appetizer when she had dinner parties.  This is so delicious!!  The great thing about this as it may be made early in the day, chilled, and baked just before serving!!

Ingredients:
1 stick butter
1 (6 oz) pkg cream cheese
1 c flour
Garlic salt – to taste
1 small (4oz) round Gouda cheese, paraffin removed
1 (4oz) can mild chopped green chilies, drained

Directions:
Blend butter, cream cheese, garlic salt, and flour into a dough.  Pat or roll out to cover the cheese.  Place the cheese in the center of the pastry, pour over chilies and bring the edges of the pastry up to cover the cheese and chilies.  Excess may be trimmed and used to decorate the pastry.

Bake at 425 degrees for 25 minutes, or until well browned.  Serve hot, sliced, and spread on buttery crackers.  (Keebler’s has a Garlic Club Cracker that totally rocks with this!!)
